How you took my heart and shattered it, you’ll never know
How you took the sledgehammer and to the chest delivered the blow
You’re somehow so happy and unbothered, you never let loose a single tear, while mine flow
Part of me is happy that you’ll never go through this low
Another part wonders how after all the time and everything we went through, how it could be so
It was once warming, welcoming, felt like home, but now I have to retreat and hide from your burning, blinding, oppressive glow
I saw us together forever, we would as a team learn, love, climb and grow
I shake my head, I suppose that was only my dream, though
I make plans for my future, to heal, to have fun, chase my dreams, I’ll have the energy to one day, I’ll be okay, even if the process is slow
But I will rise from this, be better than ever, I’ll find the meadow
