Awakening

I\'m actually more detached than I\'ve ever been
I walk streets in my hometown where I rarely
See those from when things were more alive
When I had goals that were lofty, had hope to attend
Had a future to send youth, and acts, and deeds
To bend what it is I hoped the future could ultimately
Be, and I have to say that I am more free than
I ever could have thought I would ever be, but
\'Free\' is another word which coincides with words
Like \'empty\' and I know, I know that there have
Been plenty of times, plenty of rhymes, plenty
Of signs to see my future as it truly is, what
Will be, you know, \'free\', with securities, connecting
What has been to what has now become reality
That mortality takes the best, the worst, and
Everything that fills the lonely streets now before
Me
