JUAN MIGUEL MORENO VILLAMIZAR

Love, a utopia full of daydream, or a reality without deep freedom.

Laurel of Laurels

Oh, my beloved Laurel, how lovely you are today.

The day beheld your blossoming; with you

I felt the true feeling of love.

Beholding you, seeing you, I love you endlessly.

Oh, masterful beauty, oh sweetness —

your face captivated me, and your brown eyes

hypnotized me the moment I looked at you.

Blessed be creation, the day you were born,

for all others bowed before you, my dear queen of the garden.

You were a perfect creation of God,

for He shaped you with His immense love

and filled you with such sweetness and beauty.

How beautiful you are today; dresses are

your finest choice. Truly your beauty captivated me,

to admire your masterful form

and the thrill I feel on seeing you,

my dear Laurel flower of my magnificent garden.

Wondrous glory of God, magnificent Laurel

of the garden, how mischievous you are,

and with your teasing blows in this game you win my heart

more and more. I am a masochist before you,

for I love the harshness of how you treat me.

Laurel of laurels, I love you endlessly.

You have made this man go

mad with love; you are younger than I,

but there\'s little difference now that

future plans are made. I love you endlessly,

my dear Laurel, rising with the crescent moon.

The only one among laurels of a color

unlike the rest: purple. Beholding you,

my imagination bursts with thought, and

that delicious scent captivates every

conscious man — true standards of beauty.

Oh, my Laurel, today you shine brighter than ever.

Oh, how radiant you are! So

joyful, and I long to embrace you and

keep you in a glass case where I might

gaze on you every day of my life.

Purple is your aura; I sense it from afar,

my beloved, when we would slip away to

the magic room of dreams, where

we lived adventures that captivate my daily life

in a thought of dreaming of you,

my beloved, resembling my own hope

of a fulfilled life. A pity that it\'s all

mere dreaming, that nothing comes true

in my unjust reality, full of pain and tragedy.

Today, in my daydreams, I think of you and

long for you often in my magic

rooms and enchanted castles, where my

beautiful princess and I, as her prince,

protect her from all harm.

Laurel of laurels, magnificent in every way,

lovely lady, I love you without ceasing,

and I will wait for you in the twilight of my days.

I know that I will be by your side, and the two of us together,

happy at last, will live out our

hopes fulfilled, full of contentment. I love you

immensely, my dear magical Laurel

of divine creation.

Feeling

We live desired loves, but we also live

platonic loves, and that is the ground of this verse: LAUREL OF LAURELS.

A beautiful flower that represents purity; a virtue

reflected not simply in innocence, but in the delicacy

of the soul, the strength of the mind, and the dignity of the heart.

To meet someone and wish they were your other half is wonderful;

but there are cases where that person does not share

the same longing for you, and it is simply

a love unreturned. It is a sad reality

that my poem reflects: the love of one,

a love that is felt yet, at the same time, lost,

because it simply is not returned. It is painful, but real.

This poem reflects platonic love and asks us this question:

why love someone who does not love you? Doubtful, yet true;

abandoned, yet sincere. Simply to question yourself,

and to carry on in the verse of reality.
