It was just another cold night
With the rain beating down
I could hardly see around
Then a knock on the glass pane
& I saw sunken eyes amidst the rain
Holding a baby was just a child
Dirty worn out leaning one side
Just a rag to brave the cold
With hands of a fifty year old
Yellow light to get ready
With an outstretched hand and eyes beady
“Please give”, said a voice hollow
The sight filled my heart with sorrow
Green light, I had to go
I gave a penny, she took with a bow
And I drove ahead well aware
Pennies won’t help in her world so unfair…
