Nights Ending

“have you ever felt true pain.” You ask me

“What do you mean true pain?” I ask. “As in feelings or physical pain?”

“feelings.” You say.

“Yes I have, have you?” I ask.

“No.” you answer.

“What does it feel like?” you ask

“What it feels like?” I look at you then look back at the shining stars.

“it feels like your choking, like your heart is sinking then it explodes in frustration, anger and sadness.

You cry all night then ask yourself, “What did I do wrong?”  You get a headache and your stomach tightens and doesn’t get loose for weeks. It’s a really horrible thing to feel.

“wow.” You whisper in to the air.

The grass tickles the back of my neck cause me to move slightly.

“I would never want to feel that.” You say in a sigh.

“don’t worry.” I smile “you won’t while I’m around.”

You look at me and smile, your blue eyes reflecting the moon.

But then those eyes turn big and you lye back down and nothing can be heard from you.

“hey? You ok?” I ask.
