Going Away

 I look at the calendar.
 Dreading each day,
because I know that it means,
 you’re close to going away.

I call you and laugh.
 The jokes that we share,
are one things I’ll miss,
 when you’re out of here.

 Remember what we sang?
Remember that song.
I’ll also miss that,
 when you are gone.

  We both go to school.
 We both smile and play.
Trying to ignore the days,
 that keep slipping away.

 Now you are here,
 but soon you’ll be gone.
Then my happy days’ll be over.
 My joyful times’ll be done.

My days will be gray,
  my nights will be restless,
  My mornings, sad,
 and my evenings, madness.

 If I had a machine,
 I’d stop time forever.
 To keep you here,
and let go of you never.

  But alas, I do not.
So what can I do?
I wish the Lord would bless me,
 I wish He’d give me a clue.

 But at least you’re here.
 With me, right now.
Having a blast.
 And laughing like cows.

  And plus, when you’re gone,
 we could still hang out.
It might be tough, but,
 we’ll figure it out somehow.

So, let’s throw out our sadness.
Let’s dump it in the bag!
 And just have fun.
 You, me, and the gang.
