"A Fortnight of Valentines"---my latest (crazy)whimsy....a collection of sappy sonnet (attempts), fraught with redundancy, and so hastily executed and crafted by imaginative fancy as to hopefully not be too repulsive to the reader. And yes, fairly UNedited, presently.
Day Fifteen
(sonnet attempt # XXXIV)
XXXIV
The spark that started ev'rything survives.
Because the fire of true love kindled burns:
Now flick'ring, dancing, snapping, roars by turns;
And e'er anon the candle steady strives
To prove our love's not transient but thrives,
Through winds of doubt just sways and e'er returns,
A light of hope in dark hours, chance discerns
To grow, affection strength thereby derives.
Th'initial in'trest waning ne'er dies, nay,
But grows like that dancing flame, ever strong,
Which meeting in that first glance does e'er shine:
The light that cheers and knits our hearts each day,
The bond enduring perseveres life long....
And makes us say, "I love you, Valentine!"
