MY TRYST WITH POPCORN

A piece of popcorn
Escaped from the pan
And flew across the kitchen
Like a superman.

I forgot to cover the pan,

I remembered lately.

But it was too late,

The popcorns own their fate.

They bounced back and forth
beside the oven and the freezer.
One shot up to the ceiling
like a daredevil trapezer.

One jumped upon the microwave,

Then rolled onto the stove.

When I tried to catch it,

Another flew away like a dove.

I tried and tried to catch them,
but it never missed a trick.
So finally I gave up
and ate an ice-cream stick.
