Memories.....# I
(sonnet CLXI)
CLXI
They linger yet; though time has taken all
Their substance, leaving but a shadow there
Which haunts and teases e'er anon; and where
Light cannot reach them, 'cept to say that null
And void they must remain. For future's pall
Has fallen over past and must be ne'er
Rejected since they can't be had; though fair
Or bitter, sweet or vile...gone, vanished call.
While often used t'assuage "now's" lack, as by
Review, renewing joys once had seems so
Effective, as if lasting still, 'tis lie
Too sweet, which pictures help revive, to slow
The action of time's loss, that eats on sly
Almost, our ev'ry moment here, you know?

Mementos?....# II
(sonnet #CLXII)
CLXII
Reminders of the long-lost past, the years
None can retrieve, mementos may declare
Perhaps the truth unchanged; which leave a fair
Key; access to relief amidst the fears
When all gives way, or prospers, or when tears
Blind: anchor, buoy and resting place; sob'ring ere
The soul takes flight decieved; a refuge e'er
And comfort sweet; a landmark 'fore mist clears.
Remember then, though ne'er again shall be
The former days; for vanity consumes
All youth, and joys so often fade; debris
Remains though we retain with care the blooms
That flourished; grey despair from which we flee
Pursues us; yet hope proffers sweet perfumes.

Remember Then....! # III
(sonnet # CLXIII)
CLXIII
The mem'ries then to which we cling as though
Their fragrance blesses yet when there's no light
To see, in truth exist to break through night;
To strenthen failing knees, and still bestow
The hope to keep on going. For they throw
The truth across the way and shine despite
Grey clouds when mist enshrouds and dark its blight
On life enchains with no escape below.
Yet not departed treasures here that play
Anon to cheer, nor loves now gone so dear
And precious and whose presence lingers, may
Dispell or rescue from impending fear;
Although they sweeten, false they be. The ray:
God's Word from ages past, mainstay e'er hear.
