CCIV
Frogs chorus in the waning gloaming while
Dear cricket choirs sing; cicadas bray
As clear blue sky fades, meeting pink as day
In golden glow of sunset's ling'ring smile
Departed yet remains to e'er beguile
The light that's left; and stars begin as grey
O'ertakes the colours deep'ning in array
Of verdant shades, rich varied greens, to file
Forth silent on the dark'ning scene. The night's
Soft velvet sable cloak descends and blends
It's subtle thiev'ry with these fair delights.
The choristers quite filling th'air, amends
Do make, for romance to their fiddles' flights
Now dancing unseen plays, as e'en forth wends.
