Sweet summer night! Frogs' steady chorus blend
With cricket choirs and some wee solos' cheer;
While varied insect noises mingling near
In clicks and tickings subtly 'round, lend
An aura fair; here leafy bowers bend
Their silhouettes in the velvet dark's dear
Charm, shadowy figures silent, this sphere
Anon enchants as sens'ry joys attend.
Delicious cool grass under naked feet;
Half-cloudy sable dome above with stars
Now twinkling so inviting ever meet
The awestruck wond'ring gaze, for near and far's
A symphony of pleasures, a retreat
With summer's treasures ev'rywhere naught mars.
