Sweet Twilight!

(sonnet # CCXXV)

Fair gloaming romance linger long I plead.
The sweetness of the soft peach eastern sky's
Cloud splashes purple-hued, pink-tinged now lies
In mem'ries eye, though grey o'ertakes, decreed
By nightfall's tread; the warmly golden lead
With gentle blush in clearest heaven's dyes
The west with forest silhouettes lit. Sighs
So delicate in beauty let me read.
While ev'ning's veil drapes subtly all round, still
Their presence vanished seems remembered where
Blue meets horizon's rosy lip's gold frill.
Though dark enfolds a moonless world, the air
With summer music plays loves song midst chill.
These lines e'er tell the tale of this night's flair.
