Cheeky Missy

Of the Black Queen and the......

(sonnet # CCV)

CCV

Dear life in motion, flutt'ring silent here
And there; pure ecstasy for moments sweet;
Breath-taking awe with dainty grace replete;
Fair beauty nigh exquisite, precious cheer;
How commonplace and yet how lovely near
Or far; in air, on wing, how light and fleet;
Absorbed completely working hard: defeat,
Transcend the dull mundane when they appear.
Those swallowtails, though often traipsing through
The summer hours, seem rarely ever seen.
These butterflies in varied schemes: of blue
On black, or sable lacing gold; 'midst green
On soft pink phlox, quite delicate imbue
Brief seconds with delight, as of them queen.
