(sonnet # CCCLXXXII)
Rain's patt'ring gently on the roof, the eaves
Just faintly gurgling in soft murm'ring while
The twilight's dim shades veil dawn's waking smile.
Morn quite belated rising, darkness cleaves
In ev'ning's aspect; headlights gleam achieves,
With ling'ring streetlamp's glow, that restful guile
Romancing day's gloom, as the traffic's file
Moves, loudly shushing by, like in the eves.
December's snowy mien so absent, where's
But spring at hand? Lawns lushly verdent glow
Rich green in water's sheen, while mist's sheer flairs
Entice dear dreams. Yet life moves to and fro
Quite bus'ly heedless in its bustling cares.
Day wends from morn to night in sodden show.
