He Wants To Be With Great Nana,
I remember, all of it.
I remember the day, as if it were today,
The phone call came,
Saying he\'d take his last breath today,
She told her son to come,
She told her daughter-in-law to not be dumb,
And look after his great grandson,
She didn\'t utter a word to the great granddaughter,
She\'d seen her eye\'s water.
And as a family they came closer,
He\'d be taking his last breath in the next few hours,
The father, his grandson, whispered,
Why is he giving up, he\'s a stubborn old goat?
They all dressed in black coats.
And as time drawled on not a word was uttered,
Just ragged breaths and a heart monitor,
Numbers and lines meant nothing,
They all wished he was bluffing.
They wished on blessings,
They shunned on curses,
The grandsons walked around the hospital,
Lost in mourning,
And when they left a single sentence was said,
You\'ll no longer be ahead,
You\'ll no longer be alone.
And that\'s when his heart stopped beating.
I remember the day,
As if it were today,
Because the world keeps on mourning,
Every day, including today.
