The insomniac

I do not stay awake because I fear the dark, nor fear sleep.
My minds a hurricane of irrational thinking, constant manipulation.
Torn between reality and the imagination of my nightmares.
I fear the terrifying paralysis, that overcomes my body once I lay.
I do not fear the demons, that come and try to lead me astray.
Nor do I fear the reaper, who knocks upon my window in the night.
These things can\'t scare me, my reality is a whirlpool of apprehension.
I fear wishing to stay in the dreamworlds, where imagination is calming.
Years of mental torture, leave me incapable of shutting down this mind.
Unable to gently soothe myself and drift into the dimension of dream.
So I lie awake with the creatures of the night, wrapped in my cocoon.
Now the less I sleep the more I fear the golden scarab and its rising.
