A Lifetime Record

A Lifetime Record

Life is like a new record that\'s fresh off the press.
It has to be played, as it would be silly to guess.
The sleeve arrives as pristine, all shiny and new.
Will it remain this way depends of course on you.

You must treat it with respect, handle it with care.
Be so cautious who you choose your life to share.
They might leave their imprint that causes a scar.
Becoming unplayable, much like a string-less guitar.

Side one is the beginning, there\'s no looking back.
One shouldn\'t judge a LP by it\'s cover or one track.
Allow it to play on and then see where it leads you.
Side one is an overture but there\'s always side two.

Some tracks will cause you to rock, others won\'t roll.
There will be times certain tracks will leave you cold.
You could skip onto the next or just wait until it ends.
It may get better or worse because on time it depends.

Soon side one has ended you\'ll ask do you want more.
Will your press reject to cast it away knowing the score.
Or will you play side two hoping that you\'ll get the gist.
Enjoying life\'s funky music being prepared for the twist.

The answer is on a dusty shelf depending how its laid.
If the LP still remains pristine it probably wasn\'t played.
But if it shows signs of wear and tear after so much use.
Then it proves you were a player and not a sad recluse.
