Socrates\' Bias

A classic man must study long indeed

To fathom well the runes of life’s charades

The truth is there for all to see and read

His thirst ere quenched beneath astute cascades

of reason streamed by founts of lucid thought

Imbued, his classic musings will return

full measure knowledge even when self taught

A lonely task for those who seek to learn

As he ascends the steep redoubts alone

while striving to acquire humane ideals

He learns a startling truth before unknown

an old precept the humanities reveal

In realms of fancy, wisdom reigns supreme

To know the self will surely quicken dreams
