I\'m Not Gonna Let That Happen
Let\'s talk about how we define rape
It\'s a situation you get in where you feel there\'s no escape
But how do we break that down further
Down to a point where the lines aren\'t blurring together
Certainly a girl changing her mind half way through
Won\'t hold up in a court room
Certainly a man who muttered the word \"no\"
Is a joke because if a woman wants you, that\'s always a go
Understand there\'s more than black and white
And to see the gray, you\'ll need some better sight
People all around the world are told what happened to them isn\'t assault
And if it is, their forced to believe it\'s somehow their fault
The girl in the sundress who took a wrong turn
The child in the van who\'s parents didn\'t make sure they learn
The woman who had one too many drinks
Or the girl who didn\'t realize how that boy really thinks
But what about when you say yes
And give in
Because the alternative would leave you broken
What about when you don\'t wanna say yes
But they strike fear and intimidation, down to your core, in your chest
Because when we sat in that room alone and I mentioned we could wait
You saw me as a target, as a hanging piece of bait
Those words that will haunt me as they trapped me in
As you leaned into me and said
\"I\'m not gonna let that happen.\"
