Winter\'s Serenade

I

Acrobatic snowflakes dance on winter\'s breeze,

as cardinals playful chatter, sounds from forest trees...

Mother Earth now resting, in seasons cold retreat,

even butterflies and honeybees,

dream in slumber\'s deep...

II

Coyote\'s merry comrades, black\'d ravens flying high,

\'neath days of dark December, shadow\'d ghost of sky...

Grandmother Moon is winking, in nightly silver glow,

while caressing earth bound creatures,

in winter\'s freezing snow...

III

Twilight sounds her trumpet, o\'er this woodland\'s vale,

as snowflakes blanket glistens, covering hill and dale...

Breathless Angels gather, from shaded stars each night,

singing softly \'neath their Heavens,

on gleams of mellow light...

IV

Acrobatic snowflakes, fall laughing to the ground,

their muffled magic music, herd by all around...

As Mother Earth lies resting, in seasons cold retreat,

where butterflies and honeybees,

dream in slumbers deep...

V

Yes, Grandmother Moon is winking, watching as you sleep,

dreaming dreams of summer, in winters snowfall deep...

As breathless Angels gather, from shaded stars each night,

singing softly \'neath their Heavens,

on gleams of mellow light...

{I wonder if the snow loves the trees and the fields, that it kisses them gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt and perhaps it says, \"Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again...Lewis Carroll}
