The New Cry Atlantic

I Hear Thunder When I Dream

Laying softly on my bed,
Being cautious not to wake my queen.

I pray for my bed to keep my sane,
Give me the rest i so crave.

I close my eyes,
Force a near sleep state upon my awake mind.

And as i finally feel myself fade,
Praising the slumber to come.

I see it.

Flashes blind me behind closed eyes,
My head screams in agony.

Its hauntingly silent,
For what feels like an eternity.

Then i hear it.

Sound fades in and out,
As rumbles that shake my soul echo through the sky.

Blood runs from my ears,
As i hear the screams of fictitious people running away.

Im blinded once more,
And i feel the heat strike a tree near me.

I hear the cracks and turn around,
To see the oak falling over me.

I open my eyes.

Its only yet another dream to keep me from sweet sleep,
The same story on a different day...

Insomnia is a bitch.
