Cheeky Missy

--But I Wore a Houndstooth Tweed Shift Today

(sonnet #MMMMMMCXXII)

I heard a soul remark as if\'d avail:
\"It\'s Groundhog Day--\" Yes. Naked trees line thence
In clustered thinness half the lanes, their dense
Grey shadows like to plaid upon these pale
Dead lawns and sloping ditches, blue skies hale
With fluffy cloudlets\' white notes as from hence
Thet keener eye looks down on fields a sense
Of late October haunts, tan stubble frail.
Geese fly oerhead sans aught formation, poor
As who-knows-what, since Pennsylvania\'d do
The honours, Daddy sez. What if none stir
Dry boughs to ghastly whispers? Our bones knew.
Some clerk or shopper mentioned it, and you\'re
Allowed to chide me cuz I love this view.
