Ballad to a Journey

Ballad to a Journey

In life there comes a time for change,

Takes you beyond comfortable range,

Turns your life upside down.

Turns you reeling right-side round.

This change took its own sweet time,

Creeping haltingly and slow,

We guessed it\'d be soon,

But for sure could never know.

For months we waited to sell our home,

Among many lookers one said he\'d buy,

But the next day he changed his mind,

For months we waited with a sigh.

“Two weeks, two weeks” we\'d say,

“Someone will buy anyday!”

Anticipating the waiting to end,

But grateful for a bit more time to spend

In the city of my growing up,

Filled with wonder and beauty,

Precious friendships discovered,

Unlimited opportunity.

Contrary heartstrings pull together,

For you knew this was meant to be,

The house has been sold,

Now far away my path takes me.

Change is like an arrow sometimes,

Piercing a hole sudden and quick,

Pull it out and let it heal,

Listening to Time\'s steady tick.

Across thousands of miles we traveled,

To have a new story unraveled,

Familiar pictures in my mind,

I hold strongly to those I left behind.

Missing aches at times,

Like hunger pains or a deep bruise,

I remind myself that true home comes with me,

It\'s not something that I can loose.

In life there comes a time for change,

Takes you beyond comfortable range,

Turns your life upside down.

Turns you reeling right-side round.

Ever a bright ray,

I\'ll look forward with open mind,

New possibilities to explore,

Great good I am bound to find.
