death was a lady

The fire cracked and crackled in the fireplace of the old Victorian setting
I felt very comfortable sitting in the plush and over stuffed leather arm chair
The afternoon seemed dark, but was not really, as gloomy as it first appeared. I looked, into and then past the shadows of the candle light’s shadows dancing on the far wall of the inn. That’s when I first saw her sitting across the room hiding amid the dancing shadows. She was beautiful and for me it was love at first sight. She was a very, attractive middle aged and quite proper Victorian women. I had never seen her before but, some how I felt I knew her, or that I had known her. I tried to tell her how beautiful she was and that I wanted to stay with her forever. She was sympathetic to my pleas but firm in her reply, when she told me no I would have to wait. She said that the time was not right, and that is was not my time yet. She was death and I wanted to embrace her but she would not allow it. She said we would meet again in the future, she promised to come for me but I would have to wait for now. I have had many dreams in my life and times and if this was a dream it was unlike any others I have had
Death was a Lady tonight, I longed to dance with her but for tonight she would remain a wall flower.
