One, Two, Three, Four

In my room, sitting on the floor

Heart pounding, staring at the door.

One thump, two thump, three, four

Those heavy, dirty boots stop outside my door.

My breath is fast, gone, no more

As soon as I hear the squeak of hinges on my door.

God, please help me, can\'t you see

Please, I\'m begging you, he\'s going to hurt me.

I scuttle back, as fast as a mouse

growing smaller, shrinking, hoping he can\'t see.

He\'s called my name, I no longer breathe

My vision blurred. I beg, I plead

One hand, two hands, on my head

I scratch, I claw, but I\'m on my bed.

Tears roll down, thick and fast

I wish I had a gun, just one blast.

People know, but they won\'t help

I\'m left alone living this real life hell.

I don\'t want to hurt, just let me be

I always tell him that I\'m sorry.

It\'s dark, quiet, nobody\'s home, this is my chance to do this alone

I put on my coat, grab a snack, I pull my bag upon my back.

One breath, two breath, three, four

One foot, two foot, I\'m out the door.

I don\'t look back, my wings are spread wide,

I soar upwards into the night sky.

I\'m free as a bird, I can finally breathe

I can finally see, this bright new journey, right in front of me.
