Opinionated Birth

Nerves, neurons silent, shrieking,
thoughts sore swollen aching,
the new epidermis of opinion
fine fur-soft budding and stretching
over raw bleeding oozing
memory.

Growing pains in
this small universe of one
make her long to drink and drown deep
in the swirling primordial soup,
the cauldron of her parents\'
cracked, fading convictions.

A new mind emerges gossamer weak and
vulnerable, a lily stinging at every
touch from the calcium carbonate of their unwillingly
smiling skulls. She cries softly this second time,
no nurse, no masked doctor to bear her.
