Bombs explode....
Debris flies everywhere
A tremendous noise
Smoke fills the air.
Soldiers and horses alike
Fall wounded and shaken
Young men lie dying and
Their dreams are broken
Of going home as a hero.
Fights in the school playground
They now remember
The cuts and bruises they had
Are nothing compared to this.
Give a man a gun....
A uniform....
And he is a soldier.
Take them away....
And he is a man again.
The trenches are deep
The fields and fights are long
The distance between the two sides
Are closer in their minds.
