Lost & Found

The Woman in the Painting

Behind her expression lies the truth,

Lies the detail,

A candle in the night,

A dark image in the light,

She shines in her moment of need,

She hides in fear her soul will bleed,

Unrested and worried,

Devastated and weak as she ponders powerless at her life so bleak,

Her mistakes as a mother,

Her life taken from another

A silent scream from a woman with tarnished self esteem,

What does this mean?

Contained for eternity,

Behind her frame lies the shame,

Is she to blame?

Tears run through the art,

Ever searching for forgiveness amongst the cold,

With a creek a tap and a boy on her lap,

She smears the red markings over,

I don\'t think he understood,

But she needed to for closure,

The writing on the walls, says \'look at my children on the floor\'

A knock at the door,

She\'s not in the picture anymore.
