To me, God, be merciful
To you I on you call
For man would seek to swallow
Me up, and bring me low
He fights against me daily
Look on me, and me see
My oppressors, my many foes
All of them the Lord knows
What time I am here afraid
I will trust in you, staid
In God I will His word praise
He will help me, me raise
I will not fear what man can do
To me, for I trust you
Though each day my words they wrest
Yet I in you am blest
Their thoughts to me are evil
They wish me wrong, ill-will
Gather themselves together

Be so, humanly speaking
But you my needs I bring
They shall not escape by their sin
