Night

Night

I
llumination drips through starlight
And down to my eyes
Someone named it night
And I never asked why

N
ight a dark robe
That envelops my body and comforts my soul
Calm and still,
Calm and still,
Common still after a millennia of days
Darkness has found its own way
Into our life through your eyes
Shadows dance in the moonlit skies

T
he air with a slight chill that is the night
In it we experience the blind mans sight
No It is not dark at all
But a world in which light is small
And all that we know and all that we are
Reflect in the glow of that curtain of stars

F
ar beyond what I conceive
an owl hoots and takes his leave
Flying into the shadows of fear
Are those who miss the meaning it is clear
That darkness which is the night
Grants us hope in its endless light
For the stars will shine forever and never wane
Like love is truly empty without pain

O
h night,
Oh night
Infinite is your sea of stars
Hiding the light healing the scars
Of a man who sails off into the sky
That someone named night
And I never questioned why
