To My Future Self

Dear me who is not in the present

The me who has answers to all of my questions

The woman I think I ought to become,

Your mind is great and your heart is strong.

The me who has seen the passing of time.

Through trial and error, has been refined.

A wise one, with a head of grey

If only we could speak! But what would you say?

“Dear child, do not fret for your burden is light.

The Lord will carry you all through the night

It isn’t important how your journey will end.

It matters how your time here, you spend.”

“Give light and love and all that you’ve got.

Make your

worries small, mistakes forgot.

You only need call, the Lord will be there.

To guide you and keep you, protect you from snares. “

“Finally, child be not afraid!

Jesus has washed all your fears away!”

Dear me who is not in the present,

The me who has answers to all of my questions;

When you go through hard times,

Do you ever look back?

Remember the past to keep you on track?

Did your struggle subside? Did lonely rains drought?

Did you ever win the battle against your taunting doubt?

Did you find true love?  Did it last really long?

Will my heart be singing a prettier song?

A song of redemption, a songs of delight.

Releasing me from the existence in this never ending fight.

Does my health get better?  Do they find a cure?
