Citadel of rock now lost to ages older than the sands of time

Whose arches great and towering, that seem to fly

Of ancient masonry and alabaster stone

Now reach into the heavens, columns into teeming skies

And reigning there, imperious, they glower down with ruby eyes

So filled with light and rife with sunbeams dancing down

Out of the dusty air, through which the light will gently filter gray

That spills through every crack and cavern\'s crevice grown

Down through the dusty ruins bare, into the deep

Down through the musty tombs of ancient kings that, resting, sleep

Down to the darkest corridors whose shadows whispered secrets keep
