Grandfather Green...

         Grandfather Green...

Oh grandfather you watch us,as we pass,
You see us shape, our brick and glass.
Broad of beam and high of height, Your arms reach out through day and night.
You hear our laugh, you hear our cry,
You watch us live, you watch us die.
Your drinks the rain, your feeds the sun,
No birthday celebration, have you begun.
You dress in green for most the year,
From top to tail, from ear to ear.
A coat of brown we\'re not surprised,
Is what you wear, long nights arrived.
Many mouths feed, from your fruit purse.
During winter months, when food is scarce.
You remain, when we\'ve moved on
To watch over, the next child throng.
