Blind
His eyes were crystal blue
They sparkled like the sun
Just one glance, and I flew
But that was before they were done
Now they’re grey and clouded
He seems apart from all
His very soul is shrouded
And were he to trip, he’d fall
There’s nothing left in that gaze
On which I used to soar
He looks right through me in a haze
I am a shadow, nothing more
I swear I’ll kill the fool
That drunken, stupid bastard
I’ll knock him off his stool
Show him the meaning of ‘plastered’
For it breaks my heart to see
Those eyes once full of light
That used to smile at me
Before that dreadful night
