My Forgotten Dream

You were my dream, a light made just for me.

My safety and pride and joy to be.

My partner in crime maybe... to a certain degree.

The holder of my heart to the point where

we would... simply...

not ever part.

A house, a city, a dollar, a collar,

a crib, a nanny by the hour.

Two busy lives, little morning chatter.

Two families, vacations

and holiday salutations.

I checked my boxes and had

Many bosses.

I went to school, I definitely wasn\'t cool,

But I knew how to not be a fool.

I met this perfect man and

He was always a dream for my

Grand idyllic plan.

Cool and sweet.

Honest and neat.

Smart and ...quick on his feet.

Loving and kind, this man was mine?

Escape.

I would ponder as the years would grow longer,

With our lives growing stronger -

I would realize what more my world has to offer.

To see, to be, to have and to hold

As my earth grows old.

To love the world expecting none in return.

To light someone\'s candle and watch the flame burn.

To walk alone and to walk with some.

To live life with all there is left to be sung.

To fear, to cry, to laugh, to lie...

My oh my how much to try.

My fairytale ending, my moments of bliss.

That memorable kiss.

My safe keeping my soul weeping,

I am yours for the keeping.

Proud to be, I kept this story for me...

We.

It all made sense,

It all fell well spent, but

How could I have known,

How should I have known...

To breach my hearts content.

For a while I would think of a different life well spent.

My forgotten dreams, my life to be.

And then I knew what was always meant for me,

When you would leave and become

My future forgotten dream.
