Sacrament Soliloquy

Fits tune: Horbury

(\'Nearer my God to thee\')

*********

1. I shall in the Lord trust

Me, but mere dust

Yet He will take me up

Share communion cup

With me, and all redeemed

Though all was lost it seemed

He to our rescue came

Saved us through His name

2. Name of Jesus, Saviour

He does confer

On us, and He invites

To His delights

Of bread and wine here shared

We by His grace well-fared

Sustaining meal provides

None better besides

3. He bread of life e\'er is

Find content[ment], bliss

In this feast here set out

Sanctified, no doubt

And too water of life

Is He, and without strife

We may here quench our thirst

Removed [is] the curse

4. O may we here abide

With you reside

Come to us, Spirit true

Fill us anew

Empower every day

Us to know your will, way

To obey, love, serve you

Only God and true

5. What does heart meditate

At place so great?

Of your communion feast

To greatest and least

Your words they spirit be

And true life, this we see

Go forth from gathering here

Good news to share

6. And if praise grandiose

Or simple chose

Matters not, but that heart

From you not depart

And mind to be renewed

That has by faith you viewed

Partook of sacraments

Strengthened, departs hence

7. For \'tis in memory

Of your grace free

That we share at table

Each one you call

Yet not a feast of dead

For you, our living Head

Here with us and within

Cleansing  us from sin
