Sally

I first met Sally in September,
We watched Ben’s band,
I didn’t remember.

Sally was a popular girl,
Beautiful, funny,
She stole my world,
I fell for her in a crowded room,
She danced when she heard that happy tune.

Sally came from down below,
To a place up here she didn’t know,
Her journey was no waste,
From Oxford to Cambridge with her case.

We went ice skating it was now winter,
Sometime during mid December,
She would leave soon this I knew,
I desperately didn’t want her to go.

My dreams were taken, shaken, denied,
Sally she left, quietly no reply.

She was on the 8.05,
The time together made me feel so alive,
Sally promised she’d return,
It wasn’t to be I would learn.
