Walk with me

The bottom of the mountain, the last to get it right,

shouting to be needed, instigates the fight.

I\'m living though I\'m dead inside,

swig to fill the void,

too busy to make that uphill struggle,

overwhelmed not overjoyed.

I cannot make him want to want,

won\'t ask what he still feels,

Instead I watch him walk a distance at someone else\'s heels.

We go through motions made for parents,

because that is life\'s way?

No affection, no consideration,

no conversation, not today.

Saves his energy for trysts with others,

his smileys on their texts,

while we converse via lists or plans

and emoticons for stress.

Don\'t make the effort - it\'s too much effort

let\'s not deal with it - not today.

Don\'t rock the boat, we don\'t rock no more.

We\'ve stopped walking the same way.
