Alone

Alone with only my

Own mind to keep me

Company

Inventing my invisible

Friend who understands

My need to be alone

Supporting all my

Decisions no matter how

Vapid or inspiring

Alone with my

Invisible friend

Wondering if I should

Send him away

So I could be truly alone

But conscious that he

Lives inside my head

And no matter what

Will always be with me

Alone yet not alone

Marveling at my capacity

Of imagination and fantasy

Holding reality at bay

Growing comfortable in

Occupying that special place

Filled with untold wonders

To be experienced only by

Those who are alone
