1. The counsel of the LORD for ever stands
His wisdom spread and share over all lands
The thoughts of His heart, they reach unto all
To all generations who on Him call
Blessed is the nation whose God the LORD is
They whom he has chosen, they know true bliss
2. He them has chose for His inheritance
The LORD look from heaven, sees all from thence
From place of His habitation does view
All earth\'s inhabitants, knows each one too
Their hearts He does alike them each fashion
And considers their works sure, every one
3. There is no king saved by the multitude
Of a host, though he human strength renew
And horses too, armaments of war vain
They shall not alone raise the victory strain
Nor safety found by man\'s power or might
But only in trusting the LORD aright
4. Behold, the eye of the LORD be upon
Those that fear Him, and too fear Christ the Son
They that hope in His mercy, to Him hold
He shall deliver them, keep in His fold
Deliver their soul from death, and provide
In times of famine, they in Him confide
5. Our souls wait for the LORD, our help and shield
He has His grace shown, unto us revealed
For our heart shall in Him rejoice, for we
Have trusted in His holy name, Him see
By faith, and so LORD, let your mercy be
Upon us, we have hoped in you, e\'en me
