A Dim Light on The Situation of The Self

Does the mind hark to the mute brain’s reptile?

Is the self’s task to ever serve the mind?

The self will seek renown the mind exile

These queries and my wonder are entwined

And thus the mystery of our inner deep

remains a neural labyrinth which endures

The warden of our self must ever keep

the dawn of sentience like the darkling moors

Our means for the voyage to our dreams

is not a tactile thing its nature is beyond

the realm of human wisdom and it seems

benign yet the self heeds a slavic bond

A method to describe the mind isn\'t known

Perhaps the mind has a mind of its own
