Purpose

This life might as well be death

Reaching out while I’m slipping in

My flames tended by frost’s breath

Is a battle with myself one I’ll win?

From the ashes, you can hear their call

Dying embers whisper to the shadows

Met with silence, yet still they crawl

Fervently climbing, despite all woes

Somewhere deep within my own darkness

As fear discourages, my greed entices

Chained, I begin to fall to the ground

Yelling out, yet seemingly making no sound

Hope and terror begin to mix as one

Marching forth, a war must be won

Innate desire ruling over this land

Everything shared between few hands

Complacency rises out to consume me

Quickly fading to grey with the faceless mass

Ignorance cages us, sheep are all we’re meant to be

Taking one more breath, though it may be my last

Oh, will you answer the lion’s roar

Doom’s on its way, soon at your door

Are you truly willing to take much more

Take one final chance, help end this war

For aren’t others worth fighting for?
