dear kids in 7th grade,
when you asked me if i was gay what did you think you were trying to do
we\'re you trying to offend me
if i told you the truth by saying yes what are you going to do next
are you going to apologize for asking as if being gay was a bad thing
what if i lied to you and said no will it matter to you still then
because why does it matter if i\'m gay or not
dear boys in 7th grade,
when did you decide that the word gay is offensive
when did you decide that it was ok to call the kid on the bus gay because they never talk
when did you decide that anything feminine on another boy is gay
when did you decide that it was okay to hurt others
what are you going to do if you find out that boy you\'ve been calling gay became so sad that he started to cut himself
are you going to apologize for calling him gay and move on to calling other kids other names
or are you going to officially stop at thinking that it\'s ok to call people names and just leave them alone
dear girls in 7th grade,
when you found out i\'m gay when did you think it was ok to automatically start calling me your gay best friend/friend
when did you think it was ok to introduce me to people as your gay best friend/friend
i have a name you know
when did you think it was ok to treat me like i\'m some sort of fashion accessory
i know you mean well and all but why do you think that you have to put the word gay in front of best friend/friend
have you ever stopped to think that maybe being gay doesn\'t define who someone truly is but just labels them
did you ever think that i have feelings too
what are you going to do if i confronted you about it
are you going to reply with a but it\'s true or are you going to apologize for it
dear my entire school,
the word gay is not a profanity
it is simply just a label
a label that people choose to identify with
gay does not define anyone and their personality
it is not your place to label someone or something gay
dear the labeled gay,
don\'t listen to them
