Telephones ringing, call lights dinging, computers in the hall
Constant chaos, twelve hour shifts, back against the wall
Patients calling nurse, doctors on the phone
Can\'t wail til break, maybe I\'ll be left alone
Life of a nurse, always on the go
Waiting for that day for it to be slow
When will that happen? Lord only knows
Time for therapy and their meds
Need help to get them out of bed
Lifts in the ceiling, so I don\'t break my back
Working alone as usual, staffing we lack
Life of a nurse always on the go
Staring at the clock, waiting for relief to show
I often ask myself how did I survive?
The end of the shift all my patients are still alive.
Life of a nurse
