Silence fell like fog
And I knew that she was dead.
Duty waited \'til she slept
And put a bullet in her head.
Duty wept as he left
The room where Freedom lay
Still and unsuspecting.
That\'s when I heard him say:
Forgive me Freedom,
If you hear my voice
This is my job.
I had no choice.
The ghost of Freedom
Listened in unexpected desolation
As the man she loved with all her heart
Defended this situation.
Freedom thought about her life,
Her eternity with Duty.
Side by side they fought for Peace
And Love And Calm And Beauty
Now betrayed, she contemplated
An eternity alone
With sadness she began to fade
Into the unknown
Silence fell like fog
And not a single person cried
Except me in the corner
In the room where Freedom died.
