THE LAST DAY

God granted me another day,

To use as I see fit.

But I spent my time making plans,

And wasted most of it.

So many things I could have done,

And so many things to see.

The choices that I could have made,

Were right in front of me.

I could have taken a walk outside,

And ran barefoot through the grass.

I could have seen a flock of geese,

And watched them as they pass.

The gifts in life are all around,

We just fail to see.

We can’t see the forest because,

It hides behind the tree.

We fail to see the beauty,

As the sunset ends the day.

And we don’t hear all the children

With their laughter as they play.

The things we take for granted,

As we think we aren’t done yet,

Will become important when we

Find it is the last day that we get.
