Dear Death

I just threw it away

In this moment

While entombed

In a fading hallway

And it took a century to get through to you

And deliver a numbing effect

That would echo throughout the many

Rows of headstones you intend on

Planting

And you should water them

Every day and every night

So as to diverge against the oncoming traffic

Of sleepy people looking for a new bed

A residence that would permit

A hideaway from the elements

The tenants accept that there is only

An entrance

So as a good neighbor,

You bring gifts to their doors

Variation of worms as to their hearts\' content

Maybe they\'ll just use them as bait

For catching fish

Should they ever find that exit

As a newborn babe

Announcing the complication of life

Absent is breath

Escaped through the notion

That I should be saved

Being unnerved of a hero

Needing that which is you.

So I just threw it away

In this moment

While entombed

In a fading hallway

And it took a century to get through to you.
