the dawning of grief

No one ever tells you,
how quiet mourning is going to be.
And no one ever tells you,
how different the morning will feel.
The silence will be unbearable.

Because nobody wants to admit it,
but the grief that is swimming in your veins,
will change everything.
Like a slow and torturous venom,
it will poison your heart.

But it will be the same peaceful sunrise,
and the same cold damp air.
And maybe that\'s the worst part of it,
because the world will wake again,
even if you don\'t want it to.

And no one else will feel the loss,
in quite the same way that you do.
And it will be hard to remember,
the superficial lightness,
that you felt before.

Because there are only two simple things,
powerful enough to permanently alter,
the fabric of your soul,
and the workings of your mind:
death, and the strongest of loves.
