dusk arising

stumble

he stumbled towards the gate
for two long years the gate
the gate would be the final barrier
between his life and his love
a woman true and his son
a son in who he invested his life
invested his love and dreams
the meaning of and realisation of
all his love as best he knew
a simple warrior, a man of the earth
respeced and honoured
finally impaled
loved as a man by her
such love as he had never imagined
she had shown him, joined with him
he learned what it was to be a man fulfilled
his son would inherit his genes
the gates, unbearable pain
the eyes of his slayer
the gates began to fade
departing his earthly being
no. no, never again
mother you are here
brother, father, the gate
oh lord, i am done, i am home
forgive me my sins
