A Traditional Man

Now it makes sense

Why I’m a traditional man

My old school ways

Vintage 1956 American

Criticize me if you want

I know yesterday is gone

And I can’t tell you why

But still I need to hold on

Chorus:

A traditional man

Yeah, that’s what I am

A traditional man

Can’t you understand?

I was raised on this land

To be who I am

An American man

A traditional man

There has to be a reason

Some meaning in the past

Consequences of good or bad

The ripple effect to our future will last

So in the rear view mirror

The past falls away

I know yesterday is gone

But it gave us today

Chorus:

A traditional man

Yeah, that’s what I am

A traditional man

Can’t you understand?

I was raised on this land

To be who I am

An American man

A traditional man

You can live for the future

While learning from the past

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it

Life goes by too fast

And I can’t change who I am

I can only be me

Read between the lines

For the truth there to see

The past is in the future

And the future in the past

Don’t it sound confusing?

When the future bumps into the past

If you paid attention

You’d seen the writing on the wall

Look today and you’ll see

History’s wake up call

Chorus:

A traditional man

Yeah, that’s what I am

A traditional man

Can’t you understand?

I was raised on this land

To be who I am

An American man

A traditional man
